Question 40
A sister from the Ansar asks about her husband. She and her children believe in Imam Ahmad al-Hasan, praise be to God, but her husband does not believe in him. During discussions he spoke offensively about the Imam—we seek God's forgiveness and repent to Him. She asks whether she should treat her husband as a nasibi and whether she should divorce him. This matter is very important to her. What is the ruling?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Perhaps they provoked him, or perhaps he was in a state of anger that Satan exploited and caused him to fall into this. A person is not judged to have set himself up in hostility on the basis of one action unless it is known that he did it intentionally and with considered awareness. Indeed, even if he did it intentionally and knowingly and was judged to be a nasibi, you do not know whether he might later regret it and return to the truth, as has happened with many whom God guided and who came to know the truth. In general, deal with people with mercy. May God set your affairs right and guide His creation through you to His straight path.
