A woman is six months pregnant, and ultrasound examination indicates that because of pills and medicines the child may be born physically deformed or mentally impaired. May the fetus be aborted on the ground that its formation is defective?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
It is not permissible unless its continued presence poses a certain danger to the mother's life.
