Question 80
An Ansari woman is married to an Ansari man who ordered her to abort her fetus because of their difficult financial circumstances and because they already have children, threatening divorce if she refuses. What should she do, and may she abort the fetus?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
It is not permissible to abort the fetus, and perhaps Allah has placed their provision with this fetus. In general, I personally offer to be at their service with whatever Allah enables me to provide for caring for this newborn and supplying what it needs, God willing. I ask the office to contact them and arrange what is necessary.
