Question 113
In medical work, may a female practitioner touch a male patient for examination even when male doctors are available, given that otherwise we will not learn and sometimes we are required to examine men because medicine is a general field rather than one limited to treating women?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
It is permissible while wearing gloves. It is also permissible when necessary, such as when this is the only available way to provide treatment.
