Question 38
One of the Ansar brothers behaves badly toward his father because his father insults him and accuses him of many things. He cannot control his temper and often treats his father badly. He asks for a solution to this problem.
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
God, the Exalted, says: 'But if they strive to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them, but accompany them in this world with kindness, and follow the way of one who turns to Me. Then to Me is your return, and I will inform you of what you used to do' (Quran 31:15). He must therefore treat his father with kindness and mercy. It is not permissible for him to transgress against his father, even if his father mistreats or harms him. He should try to avoid friction with his father and stay away from anything that causes confrontation between them. If necessary, he should reduce his meetings with his father to the minimum possible until the relationship between them improves. God is the Giver of success.
