Question 132
A man concluded a temporary marriage with a woman for two years without a third person present because of special circumstances: the woman feared her family and especially her children, and the man wanted to protect his own family from separation. What is the ruling?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the situation you described, public announcement may indeed be difficult, but having witnesses is not difficult. He should renew the contract with her in the presence of witnesses and instruct the two witnesses to keep the matter confidential except when necessary or when rights need to be established.
