Question 47
Today I discovered that my fourteen-year-old son twice engaged in a sexual act with another boy his age after they watched a pornographic film on the internet. The other boy proposed it and my son agreed, and they committed this shameful act together. I do not know what to do. What is his ruling? Should I carry out the religious punishment on him? What should I do, and how do I make him leave this behavior?

Set your children right—may God set you right—by teaching them the Quran, prayer, fasting, and the remembrance of God. Tell them the stories of the prophets, the successors, and righteous men and women so that they take them as examples and follow their path. Do not neglect your children while they are in the darkness of this earth. Teach them God's religion and His limits so that they do not become prey to Satan. Do not leave them unsupervised with the internet, television, or any means capable of transmitting corruption. Whoever commits indecent acts should be corrected, guided, and have his conduct and actions supervised. As for carrying out the prescribed punishment upon a person who has committed an indecent act, that is a matter belonging to God's proof over His creation. Judgment over God's creation belongs to him if they enable him to rule them and establish God's law among them. I ask God to cover you with His protection and to set your sons and daughters right for you.
