Question 101
There is a type of ultrasound device that is inserted into a woman's body and includes a camera for viewing inside the uterus and the condition of the ovaries in order to diagnose illness. 1. May a believing woman undergo such an examination if it is performed by a female doctor? 2. If it is permissible, does it break her fast?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
It is permissible if the examination is performed by a female doctor. Inserting the examination device into the reproductive tract does not, in itself, break the fast.
