Question 40

Can different countries have different first days of Ramadan or different Eid days, and how?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

They can differ according to whether the crescent has been established by the method explained in The Laws of Islam. When the just Imam is present and rules that the lunar month has begun, however, the beginning is established for all countries.
