Question 41
If the crescent is sighted in one country, The Laws of Islam says the sighting applies to countries whose time difference is no more than six hours. What about countries more than six hours ahead or behind the place of sighting?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Each country follows the establishment of the sighting within that country or in other countries whose crescent sighting may validly be relied upon, as explained. If the Imam is present, his ruling on the beginning of the month applies to all countries.
