A sick person's fast is valid so long as fasting does not harm him. Who determines that harm—the person himself or a specialist physician? What if their assessments differ?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
The harm is determined either by a specialist or by the person's own experience. If both a specialist's opinion and personal experience are available, he may rely on either one.
