Question 75

What kind of food may be given as the one-mudd expiation in fasting matters? Must it be a particular food, or may it be cooked food, bread, pastries, dairy products, fruit, vegetables, and similar foods in the required amount?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

It may be a commonly eaten staple, such as wheat, barley, their flour, rice, dates, fruit, and the like. It may also be cooked or canned, such as fruit, canned foods, pastries, or cooked rice.
