Question 344

Question 1: I am a student in the hawza, and years have passed while I have served the noble Husayni pulpit. This year they have invited me to Iraq during the coming month of Muharram to recite the mourning account. Should I go or not, knowing that those who invited me do not believe in this true call? Question 2: I work at a research institution, critically editing books of jurisprudence recognized by them or books of narrations. May I continue working with them? Question 3: Is it permissible to enter, remain, and stay in the offices of the jurists of the end times? Is it permissible to eat what they provide there, knowing that I do not know whether what they provide comes from religious dues? Question 4: Is it permissible to act as an intermediary in transferring religious dues from one described in the source as multawī [source wording uncertain] to another like him-for example, if a person assigned me to give my family something from the religious dues and sent it to them through me or another person? I await your command, my master, and ask for your supplication. My Lord’s prayers be upon your father and upon you. May Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and his family, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Sender: Abu Muhammad - holy Qom

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis. Answer 1: He may go to recite the mourning account, and let him spread the truth-for example, by presenting the law for recognizing the Proof and the knowledge he learned from the call-if he is unable to call the people directly. Answer 2: It is permissible, but he must avoid books of misguidance and not work on critically editing them, publishing them, or assisting their publication. Regarding the book al-Urwah, it is better for his religion that he avoid it, as he can specialize in the narrations, which is better for him. Answer 3: It is permissible to enter their homes and reception houses, eat there, and take money from them if this does not strengthen their power or support them. But one must avoid the leftover water or food of the hostile one among them. Answer 4: If the intention is to transfer money from the general public to scholars who do not act, this is not permissible. The reverse is permissible if it does not strengthen or support the scholars who do not act. Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity, so let him act according to his capacity and what he can do. I ask Allah to grant him a mighty victory. Ahmed Alhasan 12 Dhu al-Qidah 1428 AH
