Question 489

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. My master and guardian, O son of the Messenger of Allah, may the prayers of my Lord be upon you, your pure forefathers, and the Mahdis from among your descendants (a). My master and guardian, I saw a vision in a dream that I was unable to interpret or take a lesson from, so I turned my face toward you, my master, to understand what was meant by my vision. I found, my master, that I was with a group of colleagues on a study mission to a foreign country. When we reached this town, however, we found that we did not like it and wanted to leave. The brothers with me disagreed among themselves about the best method and a suitable explanation to give to the one who had sent us to this country. I found myself telling them, ‘Unite upon one statement and say what Allah’s prophet Moses said to his people.’ What did Allah’s prophet Moses say to his people that would suit a condition like ours? Does this statement relate to the affair of Imam al-Mahdi-peace be upon him? What guidance and counsel do you give me in such situations? Sender: Yusuf - Saudi Arabia

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Know-may Allah grant you success-that Gabriel’s cry (a) is followed by Iblis’s cry, and every cry of truth is followed by a cry of falsehood. Just as you hear the Call of truth and the caller to truth, you must pass through the test and hear from the devils among humankind and jinn the doubts with which they seek to cover the truth and misguide creation away from the straight path. Your vision explains to you the appropriate response to the Shia of the religious authorities, or their helpers and supporters, who through their desires make following a non-infallible person obligatory, set up for themselves a calf and a Samiri, and stray from the sound path. Allah explains to you that the appropriate response when they invite you to distance yourself from the truth is what Moses (a) said to their counterparts: ‘And when Moses said to his people, “O my people, you have wronged yourselves by taking the calf, so repent to your Originator and kill your selves. That is better for you with your Originator.” Then He accepted your repentance. Indeed, He is the Accepter of Repentance, the Merciful’ ([63]). Likewise, the words of Moses (a) to his people are appropriate counsel with which to remind them of the will of the Messenger of Allah Muhammad (s), through which he appointed among them the Imams and the Mahdis (a): ‘O my people, remember Allah’s blessing upon you when He placed prophets among you, made you kings, and gave you what He had not given anyone among the worlds’ ([64]). You are supposed to thank Allah for His greatest blessing upon and among you by following the truth and holding to the will of the noble Messenger Muhammad (s). Allah gave you what He had not given anyone among the worlds-you specifically, in this nation-when He made for you leaders who are the best of His creation, Glorious is He: Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis. ‘O my people, remember Allah’s blessing upon you when He placed prophets among you, made you kings, and gave you what He had not given anyone among the worlds.’ Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
