If a wall has a window that allows the imam to be seen, it is not considered a barrier that prevents seeing the imam. If a wall prevents every form of connection with the imam, even hearing, then congregational prayer cannot really be conceived in that situation either. The barrier with which a woman's prayer behind the imam is valid is therefore a barrier that at least allows the sound of the imam, or the sound of someone conveying the imam's movements to the followers, to be heard-for example, a curtain, a low wall, a thin wooden wall, a perforated wall, and similar barriers.
