Question 15

The Laws of Islam states that the time for the two rak'ahs of the Fajr nafilah extends until the eastern redness appears, after which the obligatory prayer takes priority. If the eastern redness has appeared, is the Fajr nafilah performed as ada or qada?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

Once the eastern redness appears, he performs the obligatory prayer as ada. He then performs the Fajr nafilah as ada if the sun has not yet risen. If the sun rises after he has performed the obligatory prayer, he may perform the Fajr nafilah as qada if he wishes.
