Question 17
What is the ruling on a person who neglects acts of worship, especially the obligatory prayers? What advice does the Promised Yamani give the believers regarding acts of worship, particularly the obligatory ones, and is there a remedy for this habit that many people have become accustomed to?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
He should seek forgiveness and do so frequently. The remedy is to remember God. For example, let him keep prayer beads in his hand, and whenever he has an opportunity let him seek forgiveness and say, ‘I seek God's forgiveness,’ or praise God and say, ‘Praise be to God,’ or recite whatever remembrance he wishes. With frequent remembrance, God willing, his heart will incline toward performing the prayer. Congregational prayer and gathering with the believers are also among the things that encourage a person to turn toward worship and prayer.
