Question 164

If a person rents a home and owns no property in the city where the person lives, is that city considered a watan even after living there for many years?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

The place where a person lives and settles is a place where the person performs full prayers from the first day of residence, so long as the person has decided to settle there. But if the person leaves it and turns away from it, then when passing through it during a journey the person does not perform full prayers, as long as the person owns no property there, regardless of how long the person previously lived there.
