Question 112
It is stated concerning Friday prayer that if the imam dies during the prayer, the Friday prayer is not invalidated and the congregation may put forward someone to complete the prayer with them. Does the person put forward complete the prayer from where it reached, or restart it from the beginning? And how do the worshippers put that person forward while they are themselves in prayer?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
The person put forward completes the prayer. It is not necessary for everyone to put that person forward; it is sufficient for some of them to do so, such as by signaling in some manner for that person to advance.
