Question 6

A girl becomes pure during the night in Ramadan but is too embarrassed before her father or brothers to perform ghusl. Must she perform ghusl, or may she break the fast? Likewise, what should a girl do regarding the rules of istihada if she cannot perform ghusl at dawn for the same reason?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

Embarrassment is not an excuse for abandoning ghusl. In general, however, if water-based purification is genuinely impossible for a person, the duty moves to purification with earth, namely tayammum.
