Question 4

If a small quantity of water, less than a kurr, becomes impure, is it purified by opening piped water onto it, or must a kurr or more be poured onto it until the change disappears?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

Opening piped water onto it is sufficient if the supply feeding the pipe is a kurr or more at the time of purification—that is, when the small quantity of impure water no longer carries any characteristic of the impurity.
