Question 26
I witnessed a killing that took place in front of me. I heard a gunshot and saw a body dragged from a car and thrown onto the road. People called for help and the occupants of the car were apprehended. I was summoned to testify in court. Should I testify to what I saw and heard, knowing that the court is illegitimate and that the killers have confessed, but the judge insists that I attend? What is the religious ruling?

Attendance at an illegitimate court is not obligatory, but there is no problem with attending in order to establish rights and ensure that they are not lost, especially if that result depends on one's attendance.
