Question 66
My master, you mentioned in a previous answer that you had seen meat slaughtered in Australia. May we therefore eat meat sold by ordinary Australian commercial outlets and restaurants such as McDonald's or KFC, or must we ask where the meat they sell comes from?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
I said that I had seen videos of halal slaughterhouses in France, Australia and some other countries. Eating meat in those countries is certainly not permissible unless you verify that the meat was produced according to a valid legal method, meaning that it was slaughtered in halal slaughterhouses. As for the restaurants you mentioned, if they use halal meat then it is permissible to eat the meat they serve; if the meat is not halal, it may not be eaten.
