Question 166
If an owned animal causes the death of a person, what rulings apply?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
If the owner's negligence is established, he bears the blood money for accidental killing. If his negligence is not established, the causes must be examined before judgment. A tribal or customary settlement between the owner and the victim's family may represent an acceptable solution in such cases, especially with mutual agreement and reconciliation.
