What is the ruling for a person with autism? Is he subject to religious obligations like other legally responsible people?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
God does not burden a soul beyond its capacity. In general, if a person lacks awareness or has extremely weak understanding and perception, it is better to teach him acts of worship—at least wudu and prayer. Even if they are not obligatory upon him, they benefit him in this world and the Hereafter.
