Question 89
Some people who practice spiritual treatment write Quranic verses or surahs and certain talismans, wrap them and place them beneath the head of a child or even an adult; this is commonly called an amulet or hirz. May we take and use what they write even though they are not among the believers?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
If you know what is written on the paper you take from the person and know that it is Quran or a supplication, there is no problem. If you do not know what it contains, avoiding it is better. In general, it is better for a believer to write the hirz, Quran or supplication.
