Question 105
You previously explained that fish may not be hunted during their breeding period. Is this a rule for all animals or only for fish?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Any excessive or destructive hunting of animals is impermissible and invalid because it harms the environment and therefore harms the interests of the public and constitutes an infringement of their rights. Examples include hunting during the animals' optimal breeding periods, especially when breeding is annual or seasonal; taking quantities large enough to threaten the animals' continued existence, drive them toward extinction, or cause a marked decline in their numbers locally or generally; and hunting young animals.
