Question 29
Which is better: to perform an aqiqah among our Shi'a brothers, or to send it to the Ansar in Egypt so that they perform the aqiqah and hold a gathering with it? May the money intended for the aqiqah instead be used with the intention of helping our brothers among the Ansar?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
An aqiqah is not replaced by giving money as assistance. You may send funds to your brothers among the Ansar in Egypt so that they slaughter an aqiqah on your behalf. You may also slaughter the aqiqah yourself in the country where you live and feed it to the believers there. May God grant you success and make your steps firm.
