Question 145
My wife believes in the truth and has asked me for a divorce because we have no children. Doctors have been unable to help after she underwent IVF three times. What rights am I required to give her if she is the one requesting the divorce?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
The rulings of divorce and khul' are available in Al-Shara'i, where I explained the relevant rights in detail. If anything remains unclear, you can ask about it. But may God grant you success and guide your steps: since you are believers, try to reconcile your relationship. So long as there remains a path to having offspring, you can continue trying. Provision is in the hand of God Almighty.
