Question 15
Must khums be paid on money that a person intends to use for umrah? What if the money was received as a gift?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Every surplus amount of money is subject to khums when the person's annual khums date arrives. If the choice is between paying the khums on the money or going for umrah, then go for umrah. May God grant you success and accept your deed.
