Question 18

When one has the choice between performing the prayer in full and shortening it in the four blessed places—the Sacred Mosque, the Prophet’s Mosque, the Mosque of Kufa, and the Husayni sanctuary—what are the boundaries of these places within which the person has this choice?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

Regarding the three mosques, everything that falls within their sanctuary has the ruling of choice. The boundary of the Ha'ir is the area surrounding the grave of Imam al-Husayn (peace be upon him) with a diameter of 25 meters.
