Question 131
When a garment, carpet, or similar item is to be washed from urine or another impurity, what is the ruling regarding the number of washings when it is washed with running water or with a small quantity of water?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
With a small quantity of water, two washings are required: the first removes the substance of the impurity, and the second is the purification washing. With running water, it is sufficient to pour water over the substance of the impurity until its characteristics disappear and the water predominates over it; at that point the place is pure.
