Question 8
Sewage water commonly overflows when rain falls. What is its ruling if the actual impurity is clearly present in it, or if it is not?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
It is considered impure unless the rainwater predominates over it, it is subsumed into the rainwater, and its characteristics disappear. It is then considered a large quantity of pure water that is not made impure by impurity unless the impurity changes one of its three characteristics.
