Question 146
A head of household died leaving a house. The heirs rented the house and disagreed over dividing rent of 300,000 dinars. The heirs are his wife, son, daughter, mother, and father. How should the rent be divided?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
For the case described, the house or its rent is divided into seventy-two shares. With the amount stated above, each share is approximately 4,167 dinars. The mother receives one-sixth, or 12 shares, approximately 50,000 dinars. The father receives one-sixth, or 12 shares, approximately 50,000 dinars. The wife receives one-eighth, or 9 shares, approximately 37,500 dinars. The son receives two portions of the remainder, or 26 shares, approximately 108,340 dinars. The daughter receives one portion of the remainder, or 13 shares, approximately 54,160 dinars.
